The first Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange will take place in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from Nov 6 to 7.
The conference will focus on intergovernmental cooperation and cultural exchanges in science and technology, industrial innovation and development, scientific research paradigm change, and big data. The conference will feature five sections and 10 main activities, including an opening ceremony, Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) sci-tech innovation ministerial meeting, roundtables, and displays of achievements.
More than 300 representatives from over 70 countries, regions, and international organizations have been invited, including Nobel laureates, prominent experts and scholars, and chancellors of renowned universities. The conference will also be attended by academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, university presidents, and representatives from research institutes and enterprises in China.
The conference will be held at the Yuelai International Conference Center in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, the first national-level new area in inland China and a major economic growth driver of the municipality with extensive cooperation with BRI countries.
Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology, a manufacturer of non-invasive ultrasound therapeutic systems, has established more than 50 treatment centers in 31 countries and regions along the BRI, providing an alternative for local patients. Changan Auto, a leading auto player that exports tomore than 70 countries and regions, has Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Peru as its major three overseas markets.
The new area intends to carry out further cooperation with BRI countries in medical care, smart manufacturing, new materials, and the environment, according to Li Jie, vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee.(Liangjiang New Area Media Center)
