“Bayu Monument” and“Memory of Chongqing” exhibition halls of Chongqing Municipal Archives, attracting citizens

Recently, two exhibition halls of Chongqing Municipal Archives including“Backbone of the Nation • Bayu Monument – History of Revolution of the Communist Party of China in Chongqing (1921 - 1949)” (hereinafter referred to as Bayu Monument) and“Memory of Chongqing - Development of Chongqing Since Modern Times” (hereinafter referred to as Memory of Chongqing) were opened. 

The relevant persons in charge of Central Archives, Chongqing Municipal Archives and Sichuan Provincial Archives attended the opening ceremony. Two exhibition halls cover an area of 3,000 square meters in total.“Bayu Monument” was jointly built by Chongqing Municipal Archives and CPC Chongqing Municipal Party History Research Office, and it was the first time to be opened to the public; and“Memory of Chongqing” was performed a trial opening on September 28, 2020, and it has attracted more than 2500 persons of 90 and more groups so far.

It is introduced that“Bayu Monument” is the first comprehensive fixed exhibition comprehensively, systematically and vividly reflecting the history of revolution of the Communist Party of China in Chongqing. A total of 479 files and pictures were displayed, and 6 simulated real scenes were produced. The exhibition, which is divided into four units, comprehensively reflects the struggle of Chongqing people of all ethnic groups to win the victory of the new democratic revolution under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee since the establishment of Chongqing Party organization in 1926. It is an important material and platform to carry out Party history study and education.

With the theme of the development and changes of Chongqing in modern times,“Memory of Chongqing” exhibition reappears the development and changes of Chongqing's politics, economy, culture, education and society from 1891, especially since the founding of the People's Republic of China to 2020. With a time span of more than 130 years, the exhibition has exhibited more than 490 precious archives, more than 1,300 new and old photos and some video materials.
